Autumn
I'm no longer living in the country, but I went to visit my folks the other day and on the way back to Youngstown, I couldn't help stopping to take some pictures out there now that it's fall, my favorite season.
Or like the railway tracks in Dead Boy Found/One For Sorrow. Though Chris' story and novel (at least in the last version I read) were a lot closer to King's The Body - for me the quintessential story of growing up the hard way in rural New England circa 1959 - than to Bob Reiner's pretty and gentrified Stand By Me.
I met two kids from Youngstown here (at NYU) last night, and told them all about our fantastic night in Youngstown, OH. It was definitely the best night on the roadtrip.
litte McCarron! you met Youngstowners at NYU! yay! i'm so glad we're invading new york's esteemed university educational systems! and i'm glad your night here was the best on the roadtrip. i had a ton of fun, and you must promise to come back and visit me again. and of course, when i'm in nyc, you can show me your new home. ;-)
David, I wish I could have an album. Maybe I will just record a Barzak Sings Karaoke album and have the cover ready anyway. ;-)
Graham, I don't do showtunes. Sad, but true. My voice is all pop and hip hop with the inescapable bit of country from my roots. Maybe I could train for showtunes. Hmm, nah.
Rick, however One for Sorrow has changed, the tracks still run through it since you last read it. And this, actually, is the set of tracks the boys take.
Yes, all of them are going to look like author photos from now on. ALL OF THEM. hehe. Actually, I've become a hobby photographer, including self-photography as well as the scenic stuff I like. I'm sort of into self-portraits with interesting frames when i see them, sort of like Frida Kahlo's self-portraits. I think I also got into a habit of photographing myself in places when I traveled alone sometimes in Japan and wanted pics of myself in some of the places I visited.

Make that first picture black and white, and I think you've got your first album cover.
Dude, those shots are gorgeous. Just amazing.
Is that the (full service) Salon Fantastique next to the General Store?

David: You're right, so long as he doesn't do the showtunes album first.
Lovely pics. Especially like the railway one for reasons I'm not entirely sure about. (Reminding me of "Stand by Me", maybe?)

No show tunes? Oh come off it, you were ready to jump out of your seat and join Hugh Jackman on stage in "The Boy From Oz".
Rick
Rick, sure, but was that for musical reasons?
Are all of your photos going to look like author photos from now on? David is right, though, it is more of an album cover type photo.
"Rick, sure, but was that for musical reasons?"
What else could it be, dirty boy?

If you're going to be like Frida, you have to let your eyebrows grow together.
one who knows
I'm the male version of Frida, so with those tables turned, I would be the opposite, no brows growing together in the slightest.
Rick, I have no idea what you're hinting at. None whatsoever. (Although someone called me the filthiest man in British fandom the other night.)
Chris, would you like us to Photoshop all the eyebrows out of your pics then, or will you cover them with sticking plasters?
Luckily, I don't have very hairy eyebrows, so no photoshopping or sticking plasters will be necessary, I think. :-)
Dirty Boy - You weren't described as the filthiest person. Who holds that particular title?
